Choose Your Words Wisely

Ephesians 4:29

"Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them."

We all remember the old school yard saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me!"  Is that true?  Words do hurt!  As we grew up words framed our world.  They communicated love, instruction, or even a job well done.  Words also communicated frustration, anger, or even hatred.  Both positive and negative words created such deep psychological impressions on us that they helped shape our destinies.

Some of you may have had a mother in your life that helped soothe the pain from hurtful words and who spoke positively over you. For others your mother may have been the one saying hurtful words that left you heartbroken.  Thanks to our Heavenly Father who gave us His Word that says in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows]."  He heals your heart and reshapes your image into His likeness.  He allows you to become who He intended you to be!

The words we choose to speak today can make a deep impression on the hearts and minds of others, especially our children.  Choose your words wisely!

Have a great day!  God bless you.
