Stay In The Fight!

Hebrews 1:1, 12-13 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us...12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. 13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. Today we are reminded of David and his journey to becoming king. After killing Goliath, David had tremendous favor on his life and everything he did was successful. King Saul became exceedingly jealous and wanted to kill David. David came under great pressure from Saul's threats and ran for his life. In 1 Samuel 27, David grows tired of being pursued and defects to Achish, Philistine King of Gath. What? To ease the pressure of being pursued, David defected! He wanted out. Can you believe it? Is this what God wanted? No! David was being prepared for kingship, he was being tried, tested, and proved by God, not Saul! God would have lifted the pressure in His timing not David's. The only pressures you should be freeing yourself from today are the pressures of sin! It's sin that trips us up and keeps us from running the race God has placed us in. In 1 Samuel 30:6b it says, "But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God." Encourage yourself in the Lord today and stay in the fight! Have a great day! God bless you.
